Tuning a Cascaded PID Loop by Hand

Position loop wraps velocity loop wraps current loop \u2014 tune from the inside out or you're chasing your own tail. Start with the current loop maxed for bandwidth, then back off the velocity loop until overshoot settles under 5%, then close the position loop last. Every layer you skip shows up later as an instability you can't explain.
